The Nintendo Entertainment System

The Nintendo Entertainment System released October 18, 1985 followed by the European and Australian release in September 1986. People may think that this is Nintendo's first home console, but its not! The first Nintendo home console was the Color-TV Game 6. The NES (Nintendo entertainment system) Released with popular titles such as Super Mario Bros, Duck Hunt, and ExciteBike. A couple of years after the release of the NES Nintendo and Sony had a partnership for both Nintendo and Sony to create a console that could play NES cartridges and traditional DVDs but then Nintendo soon realised that Sony would complete control over licensing and royalties for any games developed on their next console. So Nintendo decided to break the contract sparking one of the biggest rivalries between the companies. Also back when the NES released it was a huge win for Nintendo because the gaming console industry was very mediocre before the NES dropped. Overall the NES was a huge success for nintendo and practically formed the modern gaming industry! Then in 1990 the SNES released replacing the NES.
